Saving Grace

In 1994 I was ten years old, very hard headed and extremely stubborn. The picture to the left shows me smiling, rare thing in those days, =). My mother told me that when I was born my pastor knew that I was stubborn and gave my parents a book about The Stubborn Child. I remember evangelist would come to our church and try to pray with me and I would out right tell them "Leave me alone, I don't want to!" (Can you see what kind of a little girl I was? lol)

February 13th was a Sunday night in 1994 and we were in a children's revival with a missionary by the name of Richardson. I remember stubbornly staying in my seat when the kids were asked to come to the front to pray. Somehow God got through in my little head and I decided to pray too, in my sit that is. At one point I went down to the front and raised my little hands and received the Holy Ghost. I vividly remember the feeling to this day. I told my dad minutes after that I felt like I was floating on a cloud. Nothing comes close this feeling, knowing that your life has been changed forever. All the weight that my little heart was carrying was gone.

I was so fortunate to be brought up, surrounded by the grace of God and knowing the truth. I have never left God and never had a desire to. No matter how intresting people made life outside of living for God, I always knew better. I often ask myself why He would keep me. Why, after so many young people that I grew up with left the church and are living lives that are a complete mess.

"Thanks" seems so insignificant, yet the only thing I can come up with.

From my heart, thank you, Lord.

UPDATED: My sister posted almost the same time I did. Guess what she posted about? Look here. LOL!

Happy Birthday!!

What a cute little 10-year-old! You remind me of my Katie. :o)

You also do this mother of teenagers' heart good. I pray daily they never fall away and I'm happy to see not all of them do.

You sure were cute for being so stubborn! ;o)

That was a beautiful testimony!

You look too adorable to have caused any trouble. But then I have one of those, so I know what can lie beneathe. ;-)

What a beautiful testimony you have. I'm sure God smiles when he sees you, heart devoted to him. You're an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others. I count it among my blessings that I 'met' you.

Oh, I noticed you're reading Stealing Adda right now. What do you think?

Becky - Thanks! I actually look pretty good here. I was a scoundrel and looked like one too. Kinda scruffy and pulling the Shirley Temple curls out that my mother worked so hard on.

Shauna - Thank you. I count it a blessing to have "met" you as well!

So far so good with Stealing Adda, I am only about 1/4 into it, so I can't wait for the weekend, I'll get to cuddel up on the couch and read to my hearts content.

Jenster - So glad to put your heart at rest. There are so many choices as teenagers. I'm sure your kids will make the right ones... or most of the right ones =)
