Books & Singing... What More Do You Need?

It's been a blast having Julie Lessman around here! I'll be doing an interview with her on March 14th and giving away a book, thanks to Julie!

Speaking of book giveaways, I stumbled on Julie Carobini's blog a few days back and left a comment to be in a drawing for her new book, Truffles by the Sea. I've never read a book by her, but I have heard great reviews. Stop on over, she has a beautiful blog. I believe today is the last day to be in the drawing for the giveaway...

Is anyone else an American Idol fan? I know Shauna is, we seem to have the same taste in singers. Last night was a great night in my book. I find that I am pretty fickle where the girls are concerned, but my heart is set on David Archuleta for the guys. This kid is amazing. Below is a video of him singing for the first season contestants in a hotel lobby.

This is one of my favorite performances so far this season, loved it!

Another great singer is Brooke White. Her tone is beautiful. She can sing anything, according to me, and make it interesting.

I made some changes to my blog. You'll notice that there is a new set of links to the right, Daily Photo Blogs. I want to do this so bad, I just don't have the time or the camera. Maybe someday I'll be able to show the OC through my eyes.

I also added my "bookshelf" from Shelfari. At the bottom is my favorites. You can click on this to see what I'm reading, what I own, my wish list... if you want to that is. lol. I just like to look at it. Me and my book obsession.

You go, girl...rubbing shoulders with the bigwigs in Christian Fiction! ;)

Truffles by the Sea is bound to be good. Especially if said truffles are chocolates, and not the fungus kind that pigs root around for in the dirt. (Though I must say, truffle oil makes for some pretty tasty Mac & Cheese (on Steriods) at The Yardhouse, lol.

I agree with your Idol assessment! David is amazing and Brook is my favorite of the girls.

Can't wait for the giveaway! Woohoo!!

I read Julie Carobini's first book Chocolate Beach. It was cute but like listening to Phoebe from "Friends" tell a story. Which, for me, was a bit difficult to listen to. I was impressed that she kept her "voice" consistent throughout the book.

As for IDOL, I LOOOOOOVE Michael Johns. Did you see him sing "Bohemian Rapsody"? It was INCREDIBLE! David Cook is also amazing. His version of Lionel Richie's song was flat out astounding! Now, that being said, I still think David Archuletta will probably win, if for no other reason than the teeny-bopper vote. Not that he's not talented or deserving, but I think the teen voters will win out in this one.

BTW, I just sent you a PM over at Dee's.

Becky - How could you go wrong with truffles and a free book? =)

Katy - Ohhh! I might like it then. I love Phoebe. I am a serious Friends fan. I have seen all 10 seasons, maybe 5 times each! no joke. I too like Michael Johns, I just wish he lowered his keys, maybe then it would be an awesome performance. As for David Cook, that performance was incredible. I must say, I may have a little crush. Teeny Bopper vote for David A? lets hope all the teeny boppers come out to vote. The boy can sing!

OK, I must say, I love all the little things that you recently added to your blog! Totally you!
:-) If I wasn’t related to you and if I wasn't forced to read your blog...just kidding... I would still look forward to reading your blog – I must say it’s one of my favorites. :-)

As for American Idol, I am a huge fan!! Love Michael Johns and David Archuleta. As far as the girls are concerned, I also agree with you, Brook White is really good. Then there's also Carly Smithson - she can sing anything. Those are my top four contestants. Can't wait till next week's show starts!

Becky - Forgot to mention, Truffle Mac & Cheese? YUMMO! Expensive lump of noodles.

MIZ Bingley - You're forced? Hmph. Your favorite? Aw, yah! (mood swing alert!)

My guy favs for AI are David A. and Michael Johns. They're both so awesome. And I like Brooke for the girls.

Okay, I just HAVE to point this out. David H.'s song choice this week? Singing Celine Dion?? BRILLIANT! I admit that he fell apart in the middle, but I was most impressed with his daring in singing that song. His beginning was SO strong and he made that song new and his own. At least in the beginning. I have to say that was my favorite performance of the night. Not for perfection, 'cause he did hit some sour notes, but he actually made me sit up and listen. My mouth dropped open.

I love seeing what you're reading and what you've recently read. I wanted to ask, How is Moon Over Tokyo?

The Daily Bee said...

Moon Over Tokyo is really good. It's got the tourist vibe to it, yet romance mixed in. Very quirky. That's my second favorite of Siri Mitchells.

You're reading Chateau of Echoes by Siri Mitchell right now. Any good? Comparable to Adrien and Cubicle?

Becky said...

Moon Over Tokyo is like taking a trip there. Seriously. You get the feel for the place like you are there. It was similar to Adrien in that way.

Deb~Go check your PM's at Dee's. ;)

Shauna - Chateau is really good. I had the hardest time getting into it. It took about 5 chapters before I decided that it was worth reading. The first few chapters describe everything, each piece of furniture, each room... pretty funny. The story starts to open up after that. In a way it has a Kissing Adrien feel. The romantic scenes and french atmosphere. Worth the read.

So Deb, you are totally "crunching" on David Cook aren't you, aren't you, aren't you? ha ha ha.... you swooner you! Boy, you sure have taken blogger by storm! Your blog is awesome and always so fun to read... I am smack dab in the middle of Kissing Adrien and am so antsy for Claire and Adrien to see the light! ha ha ha!!! I brought the book to work, and just might have to do a minute or two of "undercover reading" today! Thanks for the recommendation! and I can't wait until Mrs. Bingley finishes Passion Most Pure so I can get my hands on it... yesterday she told me she was bawling her eyes out as she was reading... so hurry up sista'!
