I did it - The Daily Photo

I finally, after who knows how long, had the opportunity and time to start a Photo Blog! I am going to sign up with a daily photo organization, but for now, it's just for fun.

You can find random pics of my town and beyond. Maybe I'll sneak in a few random portrait shots... who knows.

So, if your interested in photography or just like looking at pictures, the latter is better since I am no professional, link me or stop by and tell me what you think.

Rainbow=Promise

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. - Genesis 9:13

Camera... Suggestions?

I have been on the lookout for a GOOD camera. Anyone that knows me knows that I L-O-V-E to take pictures. Not just family events and such but pictures of the outdoors, odd and ends, trees, and old buildings... anything that looks good.

I've tested out a couple of cameras and am leaning towards the Nikon D40. BUT, I want to make sure that I get the right kind of camera, one that will last for years to come and continue taking great pictures.

My goal is to join City Daily Photo and become an area photographer. I can't do this with a point and shoot Nikon that jiggles so bad it looks like I'm having seizures.

I am looking at cameras between $400 - $700. This is part of a birthday gift from my family, aren't they sweet?

Give me your suggestions, what kind of camera do you use and how do you like the picture quality and speed?

Picture This... Ugly Side of Caviar

If you scrolled down you've seen the ugly side of the luxurious treat, Caviar. My family loves to fish. Our favorite place for a fishing vacation is Mammoth Lakes, CA. We stay at the Twin Lakes resort; heaven on earth!

(Birds eye view of Twin Lakes, CA)

I am a girly girl through and through, but I must admit one of my favorite things is watching my Dad clean the fish after a long day of fishing. One summer we caught 154 fish, that was a fish cleaning dream. lol. The picture below is a picture of my Dad and his prize fish for the trip. This fish was bulging... no wonder.

Picture This... Hand of Hope

The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner. The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb.
Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta . She knew of Dr Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt Univ Med Ctr in Nashville , he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. As Dr Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developedhand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger.
Dr Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile.
The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity The editors titled the picture, 'Hand of Hope.' The text explaining the picture begins, 'The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life.'

Picture This... Ink Blot Test Revealed

This isn't my normal "Picture This" but I ran across this site and remembered having to take this ink blot test in high school...Never found out what my mental state was, Hmm...

Look the blot over carefully. **Highlight the answers to reveal if you are mentally unstable or mentally stable.

I won't reveal what my answers were... BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!! If pictures are posted with me in a straight jacket, this may the reason. lol.

BLOT #1

Good/Common Answers: "Bat, butterfly, female figure (in the centre), moth

You may be a little paranoid if you see: "Mask, animal face, jack o lantern"

Bad Answer: "Anything insulting about the female figure (it is an indicator of your own body image)"

BLOT #2

You should see this image as: "Two human-like forms (females or clowns) If you don't it is an indicator that you have trouble relating to people."
Other Good/Common Answers: "Butterfly, cave entrance

BLOT #3

Good/Common Answers: "A standing figure (man, bear, gorilla)"

A Bad Answer Would Be: "To describe the figure as menacing in any way, i.e. a monster, or attacking gorilla, as this blot identifies with your perception of your father, or authority figures."

BLOT #4

Good/Common Answers: "Bat, Butterfly"

Bad Answers: "Seeing the butterfly antennae as scissors or any cutting device is an indicator of a castration complex. Schizophrenics occasionally see moving people in this image. Seeing crocodile heads on the ends of the bat's wings indicates hostility."

BLOT #5

This is a tough one.Good/Common Answers: "Fire, smoke, explosion, map, anatomy, flower."

Bad Answers: "Mushroom cloud on the centre line at top can indicate paranoia. Monsters or men fighting can indicate poor social development."
Are you mentally stable?

Picture This... California Sunset

En route home after work one day, several weeks ago, This is what I saw on the freeway. Not your normal picture of a "California Sunset" with coastal views and sandy beaches as shown on tourist ads. Even looking at it now I am in awe. Who created this painting in the sky? Did He have me in mind that day, knowing that it would make me view Him in a different way?

As I look at this I am reminded of how great God is. Everything created is unique. Each Sunset. Each Sunrise. Created by His hand. Beautiful.

Picture This... Unusual Road Blockage

This is what My mother and saw as we were rushing down our street to get the bank this past weekend...

After sitting in the car and honking for 10 minutes or so, a guy comes out and looks confused. He pushes his "project" out of the street for us to pass... scratching his head. How did an old fixer of a car get into the middle of a street without it's owner knowing about it? Odd.

Picture This...My Favorite Vacation Place

My family vacations in Lake Tahoe during the summer. Lake Tahoe in the Summer is incredible! This is one of my all time favorite places. We were unable to make it last year due to my Grandmother passing away, but we are planning our trip early this year... I am counting the days! Here are some pictures that I took on our 2006 trip.

Picture This... Thomas Kinkade

My Mom collects Thomas Kinkade's. My Dad usually "surprises" her with a new one on Christmas. Thomas Kinkade had just come out with this one in November 2007, An Evening at Biltmore (click on the link for history). This mansion is beautiful and it was rumored that the inside of the mansion was designed ahead of its time, with a bowling alley! The minute I looked at this I could picture something like Pride & Prejudice or Emma. Breathtaking.

We had the opportunity to have an Expert Highlighter come in and add some highlights to the painting, shown above. My sister and I were able to add some touch ups as well, with the Expert leaning over our shoulders of course. Thomas Kinkade is known for how his paintings look when they're lit up. Depending on how you dim your lighting or brighten it, the painting takes on a whole new atmosphere and feeling.

The man and women walking toward the front were the owners of the Biltmore.
